310587 Preliminary drawing for the captured Turk on the lower right in the armorial tapestry called “Türkenstück”, which used to hang in the Max Emanuel Hall of the Bavarian National Museum. There are several indications that our picture is a preparatory drawing for the tapestry, for example, the slightly different posture of the prisoner, the other location of the turban... The Gobelin was made in 1724 in the Munich workshop of the Parisian master Louis Arnould d’Arondeau and his workers. It is illustrated as a frontispiece in the above-mentioned work (and elsewhere on the Internet).
