Mock card from Dobbs London
310529 Dobbs & Co., London. Double sheet. The 1st leaf has a frame of die cut lace, embossed and decorated with flower garlands, vases and a basket of flowers. Under a glass dome with a gilded base is a woman. Her laughing head is a scrap, bust and arms are made of paper, skirt and belt of fabric. The glass of the dome is rendered by a transparent foil. The handwritten text in blue ink reads: „My late dear Wife preserved in a glass Case. She was such a darling Pet that I had her stuffed Will you be my second.“ Handwritten in pencil at the back: „Auntie 1874.“

The Dobbs company was founded in 1816, it existed until the last 1890s.
The back somewhat stained, minimal traces of crease, very good conservation.
