This new book of hours from around 1880 with prayers in the style of manuscripts of the XIV to XVI centuries is a masterpiece of chromolithography. The metal monogram "MK" on the front cover stands for Marie Koehler. All pages are decorated differently and exceedingly richly - also with a lot of gold. The plate at the end of the volume shows a printer at the lithographic press inking the stone. It is signed "R. Engelmann" (Is it Robert, son of Jean Engelmann?) On the first page of the family memoirs are inscribed names in pencil, including Marie Koehler.
Smooth reddish-brown morocco by Emile Rousselle, blind-stamped title on spine, gilt edges. Silk moiré lining on the inside covers richly decorated in gold and silk moiré endpapers (purple taffeta). The book of hours measures 155x120 mm, it has 2 white leaves, 1 pictorial plate, 176 pages, 4 pages "Souvenirs de famille" (family memories), 1 plate, 2 white leaves.
