Louis Moe - Grisaille drawings 1930
310396 Louis Moe (1857-1945). Set of 5 grisaille drawings. 2 children, a boy and a girl, playing and eating on a farm. All scenes are framed by changing borders of stylized flowers. They are numbered on the back in pencil and in the lower right white corner in Roman numerals in ink (but these are partly cut off) 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7. They are all signed by the artist with „Louis Moe“ (the No. 2 with „Louis Moe: 30“). Black ink. 278x183 mm. Backs: Plain. 1930?
Our drawings were probably intended as illustrations for a children’s book. Louis Moe was born in Norway, but moved to Copenhagen at an early age, where he remained until his death. Among other things, he has illustrated a great many children’s books.
No. 2 with a very tiny folding mark, no. 5 with a very small marginal tear, minimal occasional foxing.
