Jean-Charles Pichegru (1761-1804) conquered as a general of the French revolutionary armies the Southern Netherlands (today’s Belgium) in 1794, and the Northern Netherlands as well in early 1795. He conspired later against Bonaparte, which cost him his life in 1804. Hodges’ picture was made at the beginnig of 1795.
Some foxing and occasional faint crease in the margins.
